Effective November 1, 2016, the waiting period for the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) will change from the current 91-day waiting period to 45 days. A waiting period is the time between a failed attempt on the NAPLEX and the next scheduled appointment to test.
The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) Advisory Committee on Examinations and NABP Executive Committee have revised the policy to reduce the waiting period, which also includes a provision that there shall be no more than three (3) attempts to pass the NAPLEX in a twelve (12)-month period. If a candidate fails the NAPLEX three (3) times in a twelve (12)-month period, the candidate shall be subject to eligibility approval by the board of pharmacy (or designated authority) and will not receive an authorization to test until the 12-month time frame has passed.
